This unit plan is designed to teach students about our environment, specifically the Sonoran Desert.  It is important for students to have an understanding of where they live and why we have this climate.  Its important for students to know about the areas history and the people who lived here long ago.
We will study other deserts and how they were formed and what types of deserts there are.  We will study different types of plants and animals that live in the desert.
This unit integrates history, social studies, literature, geography, math, art, technology, and science.
By the end of the desert unit, I expect students to have a better understanding of their environment and that of other deserts.  I expect students to be aware of new places and different types of people.
This unit will be conducted mainly in a group setting with emphasis on students helping each other lean the subject matter.
